Man. This is another one of those nail-biting mornings. I checked my bank yesterday on a whim. $3.57. WTF? I'll tell you.
I've started paying my mortgage online. It's been pretty convenient. Well Chase Manhattan (Chase) is currently housing my mortgage. As we all know, Chase and Bank One are in the process of merging. I can only assume this is the problem for their web difficulties. For a week, i tried to pay my bill online, but i kept getting an error that kept telling me to call a number. Well Monday, i resolved to just call the number. When i go through the same steps, i get a different error and NO number. Effin great. So i start clicking around looking for a contact number. I find one. At no point does it let me go to a CSR. I am allowed to make a one-time fast payment for a $12.00 fee. The recorded woman thoughtfully reminded me that if i go through CSR to get my bill paid, it'd cost $20.
Apparently this fast pay is fast. Normally when i pay my mortgage, Chase will sit on it a few days. Let's say it's due on the 1st and it'll get p osted on the 8th. I've got some built in time and a pay check in between. Not this time. Fast pay took it out next day. So i'm down to nothin.
So this is the thing. I technically get paid on Thursdays, but GCFCU has a habit of depositing the money Wednesday mornings. It's not always a sure thing, but 92% of the time, the money will be there. If that's the case today, i'm square. If it's not, i'll be praying that nothing gets posted. Pray with me, brothers and sisters.
In other news...er...I've got nothing. Oh! Except my pillows should be here on Saturday. Here are the pillows i'm getting. Two over-sized memory foam pillows for $30.00. I've already linked the poker chips i'm getting.
Now is the time for opinions. Everyone knows i'm a fan of overstock. I've never been burned by their refurbed items. Well, i've been browsing their travel section.
Here is an example of a cruise I've been looking at.
Seven-night Western Carribean (cozumel, belize, mexico) cruise for $449 interior, $509 exterior. According to Overstock, brochure price is $1449. Disregarding specifics of this particular trip, would you guys trust or consider a vacation from overstock at these prices?
Update: Monies were deposited. It's all good.

Second, this may sound paranoid, but I'd think twice about taking a cruise. News reports are beginning to surface that cruise lines cover up crimes committed during cruises and even sanitize crime scenes to prevent investigation. A guy on a honeymoon dissappeared while in a cruise, leaving nothing but a few bloody stains behind. No one knows what happened to him. And there are other reports theft and rape are rampant aboard cruise ships.
Food for thought.

2) Theft and rape? Aside from the food, why do you think i'm taking a cruies? -knocks on your head- Hello? I'm a pirate, remember? Murders and cover-ups sounds great to me.

Cruisin'
I dunno about overstock when it comes to cruises, but you have had a good experience with them so far. Also, I would consider sailing out of NO instead of Galveston. The gas/parking fees may remove any savings you sought. Most all of the cruises from NO hit the western carribean, and you could get someone to drop you off so you could save on the 80-100 buck parking fee.A family member has had repeated success with VacationsToGo.com. I'd check them out.

Re: Cruisin'
like i said, it wasn't the specifics of that particular vacation. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for something in NO or -cough- Mobile.I'll check out your website.

Re: Cruisin'
I've heard from other people that the vacationstogo.com is good too. For our honeymoon, we just waited to buy until the last minute and the tickets were really cheap that way! If you wait, the prices just keep going down b/c they have to fill the ship. Also, I definitely recommend at least an outer room if not a balcony. Balconies are awesome.Oh, and as for the theft, etc - didn't have any problems or hear of anything like that on our cruise...
